Glitterize parts of your image at Imagemagick Print E-mail
Contributed by Linda
A completely free way to get great results.

We have another tutorial for glitterizing portions of your image, but that tutorial also partly uses PSP/Animation Shop which is not a free site, but rather an optional bought program after a 30-60 free trial period.  This tutorial however, will give you a way to achieve this by using only Imagemagick - a great free site!

*If you ever find that the Imagemagick site won't work in the tutorial, please check here for additional Imagemagick sites. http://www.mypcclinic.com/forums/sh...9984#post129984

Here is my image -

Go to Imagemagick http://magick.net4tv.com/MagickStudio/scripts/MagickStudio.cgi and click on "browse" and find your image name, click on it and then click "open".  Now "press to view" and wait for your image to appear.

Click on the "resize" tab and then write down the size of your image.  Mine is 167x139.  The reason we need to remember this is because we are going to make a white background the same size.

Click your back button on your browser and choose the Imagemagick first page.  Scroll down - under "Size", put the size of your image.  (Mine was 167x139) and under "Format", click "xc" and under "meta", type "white".  Now go up to "view" and click on it and wait for the next page.  Your white background should appear.

Now click on "composite" and then on "browse" to find your image.  When you find the image name, click on it and then on "open".  Now click on the "press to composite" button and wait for the next page.

When it appears, scroll down and in "fuzz" backspace the 0 and type in 1111.  Under "method" choose "replace" and for "paint type", choose "matte".  In the "fill color" option - backspace out what is in there and type in "transparent".

Move your cursor (which will become a cross) to the part that you want to glitterize and click.  Notice when your image appears, the part where you clicked has now become white.  Continue clicking the areas that you want to apply the glitter.  You don't have to reset any of the options - just put the cross on the part you want to glitterize and click.  Each time the image appears, you will see the white in place of the color.  Just keep on clicking until you get all the areas that you want to apply the glitter, changed into white.

Now click on the "output" tab up top and wait for the next page.  When it appears, choose "gif" for the format and "press to output".  When it appears again, double click on it to bring it up on a page by itself and then right click and save it to your computer.

My image now looks like this

Time for the fun part!!  Let's pick out some glitter at http://members.tripod.com/~jan-71/GLITTERS/SPARKLES.html  When you find the glitter that you like, just click on it to bring it up on a page by itself and then right click and save to your computer.  I've chosen a pink for my image.

Go back again to Imagemagick http://magick.net4tv.com/MagickStudio/scripts/MagickStudio.cgi We again need to make a white background.  Scroll down and type in the size of your image (mine was 167x139).  Your options should still be there from where we made the previous white background.  If not, then just the same ones -   Under "format" choose "xc".  For the "meta" option - type "white" and then scroll back up and click "press to view".

On the next page, click on the "composite" tab up top and wait for the next page to appear.  Now click on "browse" and find your glitter, click on it and then click "open".  Under "gravity" - choose "center.  Under "compose" - choose "in" and also put a check in the box next to "tile across and down the image canvas".  Now, "press to composite".  We now have our background completely glitterized.

Next, click the "composite tab" and wait for the next page.  Click on "browse" and find your image that you made partly white.  Click on it and then click "open".  Make sure for "gravity" that it is set for "center" and this time select "over" which will be at the very top of your "compose" options and uncheck the box for "tiling across and down the image canvas".

Now "press to composite" and wait for the next page.  When your image appears, click on the "output" tab up top and again wait for the following page.  On that page, make sure the "multiframe" option is checked and save the image as a gif and then "press to output".  When your image appears, double click on it and then wait for it to come up on a page by itself and then right click and save to your computer.  If you ever get an error message, just click your back button and then right click and save the image from that page.

Here is the finished image -
