McCaffee anti virus

:wub: have McCaffee virus protection.Was wondering if there is a way\
to get rid of logo or screen that pops in on desktop on start up

Does it pop-up and then disappear? If so, you cannot disable that, it is simply an ad letting you know McAffee has started and is running, i believe most AV software and many firewalls like Zone Alarm do this.

Another question you may ask is how to make the switch to AVG (free AV software) or possibly Norton, as many people here happen to dislike McAffee immesely.

Have you tried this;

Go to your C:\startup folder and if there is a shortcut inside it for McAffee. Right click, select Properties, on the Shorcut tab, in the Target Box, type -nosplash

Making sure you leave one space between that and the " as per my attachment

I don't use this program, but have attached a pic of the properties for Zone Alarm, which stops the splash screen on that whan I boot up.

Does AVG do everything Mc Afee does? I have Mc Afee and have had no trouble (knock on wood) but if I could get AVG free, it would help me a great deal money wise. How would I cancel McAfee and get AVG and get a refund from McAfee? :hammer:

Leny, I doubt very much that you could get a refund from McAfee. If it's running well for you, keep it 'til renewal time, then replace. Or cut your losses and install AVG.
