A post on another forum was brought to my attention which reminded me about the ethos of MPC.

It was originally set up to share knowledge and help others. All of our members contribute in one way or another, by seeking or giving help in the forums, by bringing smiles to the faces of others in the Water Cooler and games room etc and by sharing tips and new sites.

"There is one thing that's been irritating me since I switched to Linux, and it shows clearly in the one post above, it's the attitude of some of the more knowledgeable folks. I don't know how many times I've seen experts complain because average users don't know how to fix simple things and don't want to learn how. It's extremely hypocritical because I can gaurantee that most of these same experts take their car to the local Jiffy Lube for an oil change instead of doing it themselves. I'm not a trained mechanic, but give me the tools and there's nothing I can't fix on a car. That's because I'm obsessed with cars just like many in the Linux community are obsessed with computers. I'm always glad to share my expertise with others and I never berate anybody for not wanting to perform their own maintenance. But there seems to be a group of geeks out there who feel people should not be allowed to own a computer unless they're willing to obtain at least an associate degree in computer science. To all the experts out there, I have a simple suggestion. The next time you get frustrated with a neophyte, ask yourself, "if my water stops running do I fix it or call a plumber?" or "if my car makes a strange noise do I grab a wrench or a telephone?" We can't all be experts in everything, that's why we have specialists. I can promise you, I've worked in enough different fields to know that plumbers, carpenters, and mechanics all laugh at some of the things people call them for."

If someone seems a little slow on the uptake or has very little knowledge please be patient with them, we all started somewhere.

Similarly for all new members, if you don't know, ask! We will be glad to help where we can.

We are not all experts here, knowledge varies from topic to topic, what we don't know straight off we will research and give the best educated advice we can to help solve problems
