Flower Shop ElephantThe Elephant Car Wash sign rotates on Denny Way near Seattle Center. Enhanced with neon and "flowing" incandescent bulbs, the sign was constructed in 1955.

Ok, here is the situation. MM's picture is correct but his description is for another business http://images.google.decenturl.com/elephant-car-wash-seattle
Taz, your picture is also correct, but they're saying it is in Fremont which it is not. The picture I'm showing is ( or at least was ) on Aurora Ave North at 88th . I'm actually going to contact roadsideamerica to see what they say. I'll let you two decide what to do.:hi:

That is because Fremont is where this statue was built as stated in the RoadSide America articel
The life-size statue dates from 1926-36, created by mosaic craftsman John Giovanni Braida to promote his tile business in Fremont. Braida and his employees spent nearly a decade building and embellishing the elephant.
The family sold the elephant in 1946, and businessman Denny Grindall got a great deal -- $500 -- to represent his Aurora Avenue flower shop.

And where it is now after being moved
Flower Shop Elephant:
Address: 8808 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA.
Directions: Hwy 99 and 88th St. on the east side, just south of the Vacancy Motel and next to a googie restaurant.
Phone: 206-522-5336

That restaurant mentioned was originally a Sambos but due to obvious problems,it was renamed Aurora Family Restaurant. I used to work there as a dishwasher.
Thank you gray. I guess its still up to Taz & MM. Or ??

Not really in reading further the flower shop was recently sold to new owners that intend to operate a family style resturant and they have informed the city and her people they intend to not only make repairs on the Aurora Elephant but will upgrade as well insuring her a long life and a permeant home!
i'd say it was up to Taz to post or pick sorry but the facts bear me out! check with Roadside America it is there in black & white.
