I've noticed that a few of you are moving to Linux, so i thought i would take the plunge, unfortunately somewhere along the line i've gone off the rails.
Problem, I'm trying to set up Mandrake 9.1 it came from a cover disc from a uk mag,it appears that you have to have 3 cd's to d/l 3 files, so i opened WinOn CD, my burner, there were 3 files 1]pdf,2] software and 3]xms or similiar, transferred pdf, but when i try to burn the other two files it tells me that numerous files are causing a conflict, if i change the name it reports an error.
Any help gratefully received.

You really need all 3 iso cd's burned to do a proper install.
I apologize but the staff is at the moment amazingly busy doing all the final preperation for our new site so please be patient and I would recommend you use http://linuxquestions.orglinux questions for now.
BOOKMARK THAT SITE! I use it and love it and there are tons of people there much more knowledgeable to help you with that. :)
Sorry for the inconvenience, hopefully things will be much more settled around here soon. :)

Right, If I get you right, you got the 3 mandrake 9,1 ISO images from PCFormat (I think thats the mag you're talking about, cant remember exactly). From reading your post, it seems you're having problems burning the ISO images, the best software to use is something like Nero, which has an option for you to just burn the ISO image without hassle. Dont extract the ISO or play with it atall, you'll loose the boot record for the CD! Do please let me know how you get on.

Dave,
You're right I got the disc from pc format, what i'm trying to do is make the three ISO discs ready to install.
My cd writer is WinOn CD, when i open that there are 3 files, pdf, software and xms [I think] i did the pdf one, when I started on software thats when it came up with the above error. Am I correct in assuming i just write the file without opening it, or should i open it then copy each ind file in it.
I looked at nero but i only have a P100 it recommends 300 mghz.

heh. Well, here's my pathetic atempt at explaining this. ISO files are like suitcases, they contain many things only, ISOs are magical suitcases that will unpack all your ?clothes? and put them neatly in place. So, dont try and unpack the suitcase and put the clothes out yourself, thats that the magical suitcase is there for.
Wow, i think I explained that pretty well...
So, basically, you need software which can use these ISO images and write them to a CD, you shouldn't have to extract the ISO images and burn them manually... Unfortunatley, i never used WinOnCD in my windows days, so cant comment on that particular piece of software.
