Could someone please give me very easy and simple instructions on how to crop a gif with Image Magick? I've been trying for months, following all sorts of instructions I've found on the Net and I just can't figure out the proper #'s to put in the Parameter box to crop the areas I want to.
For example, at the moment I'm trying to crop of a big piece off the bottom of transparent page with a gif on it and it just won't work. It seems to always crop the right hand side. I've tried tons of different combinations but nothing seems to work.
Sure hope you can help this frustrated old lady!

I sure will!! :) But, could you post which site you are using? When you are speaking of parameters, I am guessing you are using one of the Imagemagick sites?
Also wondering if you have tried gifworks or myimager as you can do it there without working with parameters. Here's a tutorial for that - http://www.mypcclinic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=746 :flower:

Hi Linda
This is the site (I think I got from you) that I always use for my graphics:
http://studio.imagemagick.org/MagickStudio/scripts/MagickStudio.cgi
I do use GifWorks but only for transparency and "smart crop" and the problem I've had a number of times is that my gif (after combing pics etc at MagickStudio) is too big to take there and I have to resize first and in doing so I lose a lot of the graphic so that it's too small to really see very well. I've tried enhancing it differant ways and/or making it bigger again after I've cropped at Gifworks but it just doesn't look very good. I'd love to be able to use MagickStudio to do everything including cropping but as I've mentioned, from all the many instructions I've found and read I just can't figure out how to do it.
I had already read the post you mentioned about using My Imager (I searched and found that thread yesterday) and I tried earlier this morning (I have My Imager bookmarked because I use it to resize now and then) but the site was down and I couldn't get in to try and crop. I'm going to try again tommorrow when my brain is fresher than it is at the moment. Maybe I'll have great luck there but just in case I don't and also for me to have the knowledge can you explain to me in VERY SIMPLE terms how to use Magick Studio to crop.
Of course there's no big hurry for this, just when you have the time, I'd really appreciate your help.
Wishing I could be as good as you with graphic manipulating,

Tidyup, this is a quick run through but I hope it makes sense. If it doesn't, don't worry as I think this is an excellent topic for the next tutorial. I hope I can have it finished over the weekend.
After you have your image uploaded and then press "view" you will see another page. On that go up to "resize" and then get the size of your image. Now click on "transform" and let's say your dimensions were 343x480. Always put in the width first. Anyway, put in 343x480 (or rather your dimension size) and with "no" spaces you will add the rest of the code. You can only do two sides at a time. Let's say that you wanted to take off part of the top and left side, you would put in your image size - for mine here it would be 343x480+20+20. Make sure you have a dot by "crop". Next press the "transform button" and wait for the next page. If it's not enough, click the back button and try your image size +40+40, etc. until you get the part off that you want cropped.
If you want the bottom and right side cropped, you would need to put in your image size and then -20-20 and click the transform button. And if it's not enough, just click the back button and reset the last two -20-20 to something else until you get it cropped the way you want it.
One thing to remember - after the first cropping, if you do any additional cropping, you will first need to go to "resize" get that new size, put it in with the next side code and then click on transform and do as above.
To go further with the codes, let's say you wanted the bottom and left side, the code would be your measurement and then +20-20 (or whatever you want cropped). If you wanted the top and right side, it would be your measurement and then -20+20. Hope this helps! I promise the tutorial will read a bit more smoothly . . . I hope!
Almost forgot - when you get it like you want, then do the usual click the "output" tab up top and then on the next page, press the "output button" - not the tab up top and then wait for your image to appear. When it does, you can double click to bring it up on a page by itself and then right click and save it to your computer or sometimes you can right click when it first appears and save it from that page.
