I'm hoping someone can tell me (in VERY simple words) how to make curved banners. I've read trillions of different instructions from trillions of different sites but, I just can't figure out how to do it. I've been working at this for months and just can't get a grip on the parameter numbers to put in.
Does anyone here know how to do it and could explain it to me as you would to a very brainless person.
THanks a bunch of any repies.

Nanci, do you already have your banner made and just want it curved or do you want to make the banner and curve it too? Does that make sense?

Nanci, I'll be gone tonight and part of tomorrow going back from where I moved so I won't be at the computer. Here are a couple that I did so that you could let me know if either of these are what you need. If you see anything you like, let me know and I'll give you the instructions for it. If not, let me know how you want it to go and I'll send those instructions.

Hi Linda,
What I'm want to learn how to do is curve or arch a normal horizontal or vertical word.
Hmmmm, how do I explain. I'd like to make the word curve either like this ) if the word is vertical or if the word is horizontal, make it curve like ....oh shoot I don't have a symbol on my keyboard to show you. I hope you'll understand what I mean. Ya know, like a half moon kinda shape.
I do know how to flip, flop, and rotate a word with Image Magick but unfortunately you're only given the option of a 90 degree rotation.
Like I mentioned, I've found all sorts of instructions on making what is referred to as a Curved Banner. I've tried over and over using the instructions for use at ImageMagick's "F/X' but I can't for the life of me figure out what parameters to use.
I don't think what I'm trying to do has to definately be a banner. I'm not sure if I can just do this to a plain old word. I'm just hoping you can explain to me how to curve or arch a word somehow or other. Geeezzzz, I sure hope you can understand what I'm babbling about. Here's a link to one of the sites I've visited for instructions. Looking at this may give you an idea about what I'm talking about.

Don't hurry to help me out please. I only want you to look into this for me when you've got some spare time and feel like. Good grief, I've been going quite a few months now without knowing how to do it so, I'm sure I can go for a long while more. I just get really frustrated at times and come screaming to you for help. Just ignore me at these times until you have the time. I won't be offended. :linda:
How's your flu ailments?? Hope you're not too sick with it.
Best wishes to you Linda,
Tidyup :linda:
tidy, what proggy do u use? I can tell u how to do it in PSP. Is this what u mean? You can curve it however u want it..let me know if u need PSP instructions, real easy:)

Nanci, the arc will be easy! What word did you want to use? I'll give you the parameters and you can put them right in. It might be later tomorrow night or the next day as I am about to walk out the door and head in the other direction. :hi:
The flu has been hanging on, but I'm up and about - just have times of coughing especially at night when I'm trying to sleep!

Muzz, I just saw your post - PSP would be a lot easier - but I'm thinking that Nanci doesn't have PSP. I think she had the trial version (or maybe I'm thinking of somebody else).
Linda, sorry to hear that you're down.get weel soon, my friend:) If she has the trial version, it should work. I find it easy to do. I'm not real html handy......

Hey Muzz, thanks for your suggestion but, I have downloaded and tired PSP and just couldn't get the hang of it. I find it much easier to make or manipulate graphics with Image Magick, GifWorks and, My Imager.
Linda, I have different size words that I sometimes would like to arch. I can't figure out how to work out the parameters to enter for them at ImageMagick to make them arch or things like that. Math has never been my stongest point but I can work a calculator. LOL Its just that I can't figure out what numbers to use depending on what size my word is and depending on how high an arch I want etc. etc.
If you could give me an example (original word and size) and tell me in VERY simple terms the steps you took to make it higher in the middle that might help me figure out how to do it myself. I really am embarrassed that I can't understand any of the instructions I've read so far. I know it can't be all that hard.......can it. Sheesh!!! It sure ain't easy being me sometimes.
I'm glad the flu hasn't really got the best of you. I hope you're getting enough sleep and aren't tiring yourself out too much with your move. Take it easy and,

Tidyup, please don't be embarrassed about not understanding some instructions. I found out a long time ago, that some instructions just aren't thorough enough and can easily be confusing. I get so frustrated when I run into anything like that! BTW, if any of mine are like that - just give me a heads up and I'll try my best to straighten them out.
Here is the way I made my arc. I first went to the banner generator and made my banner then uploaded it to Imagemagick. Click on "browse" and find your image, click on it and then press "view" and wait for it to appear. When it does, go up to "resize" and write down your measurement. On this one, it comes out to be 140x74.

Now click on "FX" and backspace out the number. The only number to worry about is the first number in your measurement 140. Let's double it and make it 280. Now comes the fun part. I generally like to start off with -50 and then adjust the arc from there. So you would put in the number like this -50x280. Put a dot by "wave" and then "press to effect".

If the arc is too much, hit your back button (you might have to refresh the page) and then adjust the arc. This time I will change to -35x280 and you will see that the arc is not as much.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/General1/1tidyupcurve2.gif
If I wanted it even smaller, I would change to a smaller number maybe -30 or -25, etc. and then put in your doubled measurement (on this one the 280).
If I wanted the arc to be larger, I would change the number to something greater than the -50 that I started with. Maybe -60 or -75 and then my doubled number.
When you get it like you want it, then go ahead and click your "output", etc. Make sure when you get to the last page that you double click on your image and bring it up on a page by itself and then right click and save it to your computer.
Don't forget you can take off the white part at gifworks or myimager.
Let me know if you get stuck anywhere!
P.S. Thanks for the "take care"!! I'll try my best! :linda:

Thank you soooo much Linda!! Your instructions are a whole lot easier to understand :linda: :linda: I can hardly wait to them out.
I've just now copied, saved and, printed what you wrote so I'll have this always to refer to.
A huge thank you from me!

Oh yeah, I just remembered, I wanted to show you a sample of what I'm trying to do at the moment and what started all these questions from me. Here's a gif that I want to add the word Welcome to. I've been trying to curve it so it will fit around on the right hand side. I know I can add each letter (one at a time) to the gif by using Image Magick and annotating but I thought there must be an easier way to do it. That's why I wondered if there was a way to curve a word, save it and then add it to the gif.
Here's the pic:

Sorry Linda, I don't have a clue where I found it. I've had it for quite awhile. I'm always surfing and snagging and lose track of where I get pics from.
Of course, you're certainly welcome to snag and use it yourself :linda:
