Hi Linda :linda: Hope your flu is all gone by now.
I'm trying to add glitter to one part of a gif and it's not working. I think maybe you aren't able to add glitter to an image with a black background. Is that correct? I'm adding the image I'm trying to work with. Can you tell me how to add glitter to just a part of it please.
Thanks tons and I sure hope you're feeling better :linda:

Another beautiful image!!
Which part did you want glitterized? Let me know and then I'll put in the instructions. :jig:

I'd like to add glitter or sparkle to animate the light she has in her hands.
It is a nice pic isn't it. Again, I forget where I found it and of course it's your's to snag if you want to Linda :linda: Or anyone else for that matter.

Nanci, here are a few that I came up with -
With these, I used a combination of Imagemagick and Animation Shop!

Nanci, here's another one I thought you might like -
As you can see, there are so many different things you can do with the glitter - change color, size or placement. It's a lot of fun! :jig:
And remember, you can change the speed of the glitter too!

Linda that's just perfect what you did!! I love it and I'm hoping you'll write some instructions on how it's done when you get some time. I can hardly wait until I can learn how to do that. I've got plenty of gifs I can add some sort of lighting to that will really make them pretty once I know how to do it.
Thanks so much. I've copied the new gifs and will add whatever text to them later.

Nanci, you are very welcome! Glad you liked it! The instructions for this is already in our tutorial section. I used both Animation Shop and Imagemagick. Here is the article - http://fundmpc.com/~mpc/index.php?module=article&view=52

Oh boy!! another big Thank you to you Linda. :linda:
I don't know how I missed that tutorial. I hadn't gone looking for more instructions because I do have something saved and printed that I'd just assumed I'd gotten from you. It's titled "how to Add Glitter To Parts of an Image ("in" no tile). I'd been following those instructions and trying to add sparkles to just a certain area of my pic, (I've add some samples of the sparkle I was trying to use below) but it just wouldn't work.
I've got the day off today and can hardly wait to try out the new instructions you give. I'm also thinking that maybe I was trying to use the wrong sort of glitter. Am I? see below

Actually you can add any kind of glitter - depending on how or where you are trying to use it.
Look back at the first examples I posted in this thread. Do you see on one of them there is a lot of gold? That was part of a gold sparkle square. On some things you will need to experiment with compositing the glitter "atop", "in", "over" - etc. to get the effect that you want. Just take the tutorial and substitute the different options and see what happens!
I'll be posting another tutorial pretty soon that I think you will enjoy. I will show how to "only" use Imagemagick and composite glitter to certain areas "without" using parameters in trying to guess where to get the glitter to fall. We'll also be using some of these more solid blocks of glitter/sparkles like we do when making glitter names. :hammer:
