View Full Version : Computer can't configure my new cd.
Hi everyone, I am new here but have been reading the forum since it started and am really enjoying it.
I hope someone can help me. I ordered the cd for print shop 15 from World Start and cannot get my computer to configure it. I thought I did everything right when I downloaded it but I goofed somewhere I guess. Any ideas? I really want to use the cd. Thanks, Phyl

I don't know anything about this program so I am going to have to ask a couple of questions. Did the CD Rom read the CD that you purchased and install the program or does it fail? If it fails do you get an error message?

Welcome to MPC
Not of any help to you, but nearly every time there is a new program available from WorldStart, we get lots of posts from people who can't get them to work. I believe in quite a few cases it is because they are old versions which they sell off cheap, and perhaps have not had all the bugs ironed out of them.
Your best bet is to contact Steve and tell him of your problem if we can't get it sorted.
P.S There are other people on WS complaining of problems with this program, here is one post about it:

Rnager Bob, It did let me download and all the files are in the right place. I am using Windows 98. When I try to open the cd, an error sign comes up that says it cannot configure the cd....Is that any help?

Ok you say you downloaded, do you mean you installed it or do you mean you copied it to your hard drive? Does this program do something with CD's? Do you have a CD Writer and does it otherwise work correctly?
Hi Ranger Bob, Sorry I didn't answer sooner, computer has me distracted. I did install the program and there aren't any additional cds. My computer does not have a cd writer. The program just won't start. Do you think I should write to Steve at WorldStart or just give up and toss the Cd? I really don't want to waste the money I paid for the program as I have had the older version and really enjoyed it. Thank you for the help.

Can you tell me exactly what happens when you try and use this program. You have installed it, and presumably click on a shortcut on your Desktop or programs menu to use it, then what next, do you get an error message, if so could you tell us word for word what it says, including on the details button if there is one. Is the CD in your drive when you do this.
Have you tried uninstalling the program through Add/Remove and then reinstalling it, as it could just have been a bad install.

Hi Amie
Thank you for answering my inquiry. As usual I jumped the gun. I reread the readme instructions and got rid of all the other Broderbund things on my hard drive and reinstalled the cd and it works! I am so tickled! It might help anyone else with a problem if they print out the readme instructions. Thanks again for your time and concern.

While that is great news, and thanks for letting us know, I find it strange that Broderbund tell you to uninstall all their other products, before installing this one. I had 3 of their programs on my computer and have never had any problems installing or using them all together.
