:hi: Hi,
I hope I can get some help :hammer:
I have quite a lot of GIF photo images on my web site and need to change them to JPG format. I don't have any programs to do this, so I went to 'myimager' and know I can switch the format there...one photo at a time
My question is: Is there a free :D program somewhere that I can use to change the format of my photos as a 'batch'...have them all 'highlighted' (I guess) and get them all changed over at one time, rather than having to do it one at a time :shoot:
Thanks so much
:amie:

Download a trial version of Paint Shop Pro, athttp://www.jasc.com/ I don't think they disable features during the trial period, but I don't know; I've had my PSP for so long I can't remember.
ImageForge v4 (I think it is) is offered free now, and I'm pretty sure it can do batch conversions. The company's name is Cursor Arts (or CursorArts).
And Irfanview may, too. It's free, and people say it's very good.

I believe IRFanview will do the trick for you: check out our Knowledge Base (http://mypcclinic.com/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=5&MMN_position=24:24#irfanview) article.
Also, (for our Mac viewers) this Preview will change any image format to any other image format. Rather nifty in fact, with some tools to control the file size. :hammer:

Hi Mike, Goldie & Spider,
Thank you :jig: very much...I am going to look at the program links you provided...I have heard that the Irafan is a good one, but never have tried it...I did, after I posted, read Aimie's Knowledge base and saw about Irafan...
I sure appreciate your help...thanks again.
I'll try posting after I see if these programs will change the gifs to jpgs in a 'batch"...this way others will know.
Have a great day!!!

Well, guess it didn't go too good :violin:
The program that Goldie posted looked really easy...I downloaded it, but every time I tried to get the photo format to change, a little box came up telling me the file type was wrong, or something like that  And so I then installed irafan...but couldn't figure out how to use it :hammer: I unistalled it, then re- read the Knowlwedge base stuff, and wrote down how to use it :dim: , and will now install it again and try again
As for Photo Shop.... I actually have the CD that I need to install...but have been putting it off because i don't want to use up too much space on my puter, and maybe would like to upgrade my RAM from 256 to 560 (or what ever the next # RAM is!!!!)...I know Photo Shop needs a lot of free space, and I plan on a major cleanup of my files once Winter :cold: sets in here in Wyoming...I am still too busy outside to mess with it.
Soooooo....if I learn to use iraFan, I think it will work for me...until then, guess it's  time, or maybe :drunk: will help...hahaha!!
I'll try to keep you posted, and thanks again

A lot of members use irfanview, if you need help with it post in the PC Help forum with irfanview in the subject and you will get help! With the RSS, it's hard to know questions occur unless a new post is submitted.
Mike =)

Once you have installed IrfanView try the IrfanView Shell Extension from BaxBex.
http://www.baxbex.com/products.html#irfan
This extension allows you to change the format without opening the graphics in any program. You just hightlight the graphics and use the right click menu. IrfanView shows on that, plus the list of formats you can convert to. It retains your original files as well, making a new versions in the new format.
I use it all the time. :)

Mike & Eve,
Thank you both...I will try the link you posted, Eve, with that bax-bex thingy.
I do have one more questiuon before i try it...these photos I need to change have a transparency around them...at least I think it's a transparency...the edges were erased (which maybe would not be considered a true transparency)...anyway, will the reased part of these photos become 'solid' once I change the format to jpg??? (I sure hope not)
Thank you, and I will wait a reply on this before i try the IraFan again...I sure appreciate your help!!

Try this - it's with Irfanview!
After you click on Irfanview, go up to "file" and then click on "batch conversion". When the box pops up, find your images - click on each one and then click "add". Or if they are all together - click the first one and holding down your "shift" key - highlight the last one and then click "add". When you are finished, on the right side bottom, beside "options" click the little down arrow - click how you want to save them. Make sure that you click the "browse" option and pick where you want your newly changed images stored - click "start" and you're all set!
