Do I get rid of the http:// part?

Kathie, we've been having problems with some of the VillagePhoto images. Just attach the image that you want to use and Amie will fix it right up for you! :amie:

I have uploaded your little dog to MPC's hosting site, as I think you might have had the wrong code from Villagephotos, as even though I tried to put it in the right format it would not work, and when I entered the http address it came up with page not found.
If you want to change your sig in the future, just let me know either in a post or a PM and I will swap them over for you,

Amie,
I made the back ground on my puppy transparent and would like to use it instead of the one with the white back ground.
Also, I did the same with my avatar and now it won't let me post it here. Why?
Kathie
I have swapped your signature to the one with the transparent background, but the reason why you can't use it for your Avatar is because it is too large at 60kb, the limit is 21kb. Your current Avatar is only 12kb.
We were thinking of setting a limit of 40kb on signatures, but decided against that as so many of our members have such beautiful ones which are larger, but the board would be bogged down if there was not a limit on Avatar size, as they are shown in every post.

Thanks Amie. Now another question. The only thing I changed with my avatar was make the background transparent. Why does that make it bigger,I would think takeing the color out would make it smaller.
Is it going to be fixed so we can load our own sigs., so we don't have to bug you everytime we want to change them? Seems like this could or has become a full time job for you, going by the posts. :amie:
My Dad always said I was bass ackwards, :bounce:

Linda could probably answer this question better than I can, as I asked her exactly the same thing last year. It didn't make sense to me that removing something from an image makes it bigger, but it does

No making the image transparent will not reduce the size. The color is not actually removed. You are picking whichever color you want to be transparent and telling it to be transparent which means something has to be added to the image so the software that will be displaying it can show it as transparent. To see what I mean take your image and display it in Irfanview and you will see the transparent color as a color.
Thanks RB.
That makes perfect sense :)

Actually often depending on how it is done it can often enlarge the file size.

Kathie, another way you can try to work on the background is just try and erase around the image as close as possible - that might work. I'll try some experimenting after while and see what I can come up with. :amie:

Thanks Linda,I've never done the eraseing, never thought about it.
Linda

Kathie, give that a try. You'll have to be careful - I looked and there are several frames. Try to make each frame look the same. It should be fairly easy since the image and the box are small. That should work without increasing the size. :jig:
Almost forgot! When you are erasing, change the size to something that will erase a bigger swipe or it will take forever. Also, as you move your cursor around and are erasing - very often, let go of the left click - and then left click it again. The reason being is if you accidentally take off too much - you can click the little back arrow and it will take you back to the last place you left clicked and you won't have to start all over. It can sure save a lot of time!

I'm a bit of a newbie here, and just set an avatar for the first time, and thought this thread was an appropriate place to try it out. Hope it works!

I just realized that I can't see Maria's sig. Just a red x. Anyone know why?

All I have is the red x for Maria's sig.
How strange I can still see it, are you by any chance using a different skin to the default blue one, which I am using.
Amie :amie:

Amie, I'm using the blue default one and am on IE and all I see is a red x with the words "user posted image" beside it. ;)

I also see just a red x and user posted image in IE and see "user posted image" in Opera.

Where do you have it stored? Village Photos?
Kathie

yes

When you are at WS, you use "HTML for an IMG tag" code and just paste that code into your sig box.
At this forum, use the first code at Village Photos, called Public Image URL
Once you copy and paste that code into your sig box, just add [*IMG]in front of it, and [*/IMG] at the end of it. (without the *)

Please do not be afraid to ask if you are still stuck....I would love for you to figure this out tonight.
Can you copy and paste (http://www.vrbo.com/global/copyandpaste.htm) the code directly from Village Photos in your next reply for me.

That's great!...you can easily change sigs...just upload any sig you haver stored on your computer to Village Photos and then click on it, get the code and paste it like the one you just did.

Kathie.
Please believe me, none of you could ever bug me, I get more upset when no-one needs my help, after all my signature says it for me. :)
Hello Friends :amie:
I made a new sig..and wanted to know if everyone can see it...

I can see it and it's neat!!!!!
Miaa
You might like to slow the animation down slightly, as I can't read the words as they move down your sig, but it does look good apart from that.
Amie :amie:
Amie ty for telling me :) i did slow it down a bit..but it is the font i used that makes it more difficult to read..when i am in a mood to do another sig lol i will pick a better font.. Thanks for being so helpful :amie:
