What is "ptsnoop.exe"?

Hi,
What exactly is:
ptnsoop.exe
Is it a good application? It loads up but I cannot figure out what it is. I would gladly delete it if it is one of those bad exe's that just come out of the blue.

ptsnoop.exe

This is a modem driver used by several software modems to monitor the COM port. Its functions become active when the modem is in use, so nothing for you to worry about. I used to have it with my PcTel modem before I switched to ADSL.

Thanks. If I deleted it but I have DSL, is that okay, or should I try to get it back?
