I do this about once every couple of weeks or so and it hasn't harmed anything that I can notice. PC functions very well. I used the tip about creating shortcuts and running them in order.
I would recommend backing up the registry through run>regedit and export a copy of the registry before using, just in case.
(don't know if it works for other OSes or not)
