Corel is offering a free download of PSP 9. This is not a demo and is copyright safe.
It won't last long, so go for it if you want it! :jig:
Edit - Link is dead and removed due to copyright issue.

Aha! That could be it!
Well I downloaded the file and it will not install, it says that the files are corrupt.
I just tried it again and the size of the File is ~110MB but only 74 MB downloads. But it shows as a completed DL. Where did you get this link????? :hammer:

Rachel, the way it was explained to me - it's not a trial version. They are letting them go for a limited time and then the offer will expire.

Thanks so much, Linda. I at least started downloading it.
Yeah, Jasc was bought by Corel. And, at the PSP place on Corel's site, there are no patches, etc. for previous versions of PSP. It's kind of sad.

Since I already have version 8, I wonder if I should uninstall it and then install this version or just install over the old version?
Well I gave in and tried it one more time and this time the 4th, it downloaded the entire file. I installed it and the update and all is right with the world. It says nothing about being a demo either. :hi: :hi: :hi:

I got the program okay, and installed it. Now, what's this about an update??
Just open the program and click on help and then check for updates. Or you can do it through the registration process.

Don't forget, anyone who can't download it this way, can always go to ebay or Amazon and get a good deal on it! I got both PSP with Animation shop on Amazon and ended up paying $35.00 for the whole thing. On Ebay, you can get even better deals.

RB, if you have your version 8 cd - you might want to uninstall and then try the version 9 download. At least if it doesn't download right, you could reinstall 8 with the cd.

Well Linda posted this above.

I wonder how I missed that reply. :)
Yes I have the CD but I think I will wait until I see if any other replies come in before I do anything because my version 8 is fully updated and I am not sure I could get it back the way it is if I uninstall it and reinstall it since the updates may no longer be available for version 8.
Edit ... I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. :) I went ahead and uninstalled version 8 after checking Add/Remove and noticing that it is referenced as version 8 and installed version 9. Everything seemed to be working fine so I went ahead and downloaded the version 9 update and did the update as well. Everything seems to be working fine.

I downloaded and installed it. It's not a Trial Version. It's just too good to be true? LOL
Now..........I'm a total Newbie to it, but would love to do some things with it.
I have never used anything like that before! I don't even know what exactly you can do with it either, besides Signatures.
I've used ImageMagick and GifWorks to work with images. But only simple things or I followed Linda's instructions :D
Is there a very simple! Tut somewhere, like a simple! walkthrough to make a Signature with that PSP9?

On 32nd attempt I finally got past the 404 Error Screen.
The D/l got to 1.06 MB and said Download complete.
Since the D/L Screen was sowing the File as 107MB, I kenew it was wrong. So I Deleted that File.
Went right back and started again. It started again, and after 6 Hours it completed. Now all I have to hope is the D/L isn't Corrupt.
Dialup takes forever. Just hope I got it, this time.

Jutsi, go to the PSP users group site, www.pspug.org (http://www.pspug.org/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl), and look for "Newbie Help." They can set you up with a "Buddy" to help you learn to use PSP9.

Installed it with no problems. So I guess the 6+ Hour D/L was Ok.
Now have to learn how to use it.
But at least it looks like the D/L is Fine. No Corruption.

From what I read the Free D/L expires Today.
Does anyone know what the Min System requirement is to use it?
It is working on this 800Mhz PentiumIII MMX. Would it also work on a 233 Cyrix w/128 Meg RAM? Or a 133 Mhz Pentium MMX?

I think you'd run into problems with PSP9 and anything less than 256 Meg RAM, and even with 256... But try it... You're probably not going to use the built-in filters or work with layers, or use lots of tubes or custom brushes right away, so you won't be using the worst resource-hog parts of PSP (and when you get to using them, you'll like PSP enough to put it on another computer). Do make sure that, under File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Browser Tab, you leave "save browser files to disk" UNchecked. Good luck!
Oh, and do get and install the update patch!

I have only 192 Megs of Ram and it works fine.
That reminds me: I want to get a new computer in the near future. How could I transfer this program to the new computer?
Pretty much everything else I can either download again or have it/put it on discs.

When you clicked Linda's link, you would have downloaded the .exe (install) file for PSP9. To transfer the program to another computer, you can copy that file to a CD, or use a USB memory stick etc. If it had been a smaller file, an easy way would be to email it to yourself from the old to the new computer, that is how I transfer small stuff from my computer to our laptop. :)

Just worked for me. Wow what a file and I am on cable.
Thing that kills me, is I just baught this less then a month ago and paid $129.99 plus tax U.S. I put it on my dell but didn't want to take the chance to put it on my Compaq as I think I had to register the pay one.
I can't believe there giving this away like this. But all the same I thank you linda for the link. Now if I only knew how to use this software Lol. I would be in busness. My problem is always lack of time.
Tough to be a DJ sometimes http://www.mypcclinic.com/forums/images/smilies/smile1.gif
Just a side note: I too was able to download this file with, Firefox 1.0.3
Just wondering if anyone can tell me....has anyone had any issues with this ? I have not installed it yet. Figured I would wait and see if anyone has any issues with it. Also does this come with the anamation shop 3 I think it is what I have in my pay version lol.
Just wondering how this has turned out for all here that has installed it.
One last question. Are you sure this isn't a trial version of P.S. pro 9 ? Not that that would be a bad thing if it were a 30 or 60 day trial.
Thanks for any input. Shadow. http://www.mypcclinic.com/forums/images/smilies/smile1.gif

That's a very "mature" response, Jutsi. I'm absolutely shocked that you don't give a damn! :(
I'm sure if it was your property that was stolen you'd feel a little differently.

Whoa....! The quoted message from Corel said it was "unauthorized." It did not say some hacker stole into their system and deliberately made PSP9 free-of-charge. Corel did not say that people who now have the unauthorized download are thieves, nor even that they're guilty of 'receiving stolen property.' Corel said:
Thank You for contacting Corel Technical Support. We have been alerted to this issue and are currently working to disable this unauthorized download. I thank you for taking the time to email us regarding this issue. Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support. If you have further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us.
In fact, Corel is guilty of misleading whoever reads its form-letter-with-one-sentence-added message; how difficult is it to take a download off a server? Really! and the best Corel can do is to be "currently working to disable" it?
The charity inherent in telling others about the opportunity to get PSP9 far outweighs every other aspect of the situation; if you're religious, just wait till judgment day and see...
Crockett

You can look at it any way you want. The bottom line is those copies of PSP were unauthorized. Someone handed them out without permission and you took it, and if you didn't see the signs like I did and say to yourself that it wasn't right ahead of downloading it, then you know now. What you do with that knowledge is up to you, but don't go blaming someone who "ratted" you out, because they're honest. You'd love that honest person if it was your property.
