View Full Version : editing display properties
G'day board,
How do you go about editing; themes, screensavers, etc.
Hi Leaf
Could you go into your User Controls and put your operating System in, as it can affect the answers we give. Thank you
Could you explain a little more as to what you are wanting to do, as I am unsure what you are asking. Do you want to delete unwanted screensavers etc;
Yes , I want to delete old themes, and screensavers
XP, Firebird; Dell P4@ 1.3
You can delete any theme that you create, install from a CD-ROM, or download from the Internet. You cannot delete the themes that are included with Windows XP, such as the Windows XP and Windows Classic themes.
To delete a desktop theme, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display. Or, right-click an empty area of the desktop, and then click Properties.
Click the Themes tab, and then click the theme that you want to delete in the Theme list.
A preview of the theme is displayed in the Sample box.
Click Delete.
The desktop theme that you selected is deleted from your hard disk.
To delete unwanted screensavers, either go to Add\Remove programs to see if they are listed there, or do a Search on your computer for *.scr files, and right click and delete any you do not want.

I think it's very nice, Amie, and much easier on the eyes than some of the drek I've seen on screens! :amie: :thRt:

Pink is pink until one of you gals tell me it isn't--women seem to have the ability to argue any point.

Now where did the starter of this thread go to?
I know that in XP, themes are stored in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder.
I use ThemeXP's Visual Styles (http://www.themexp.org/view.php?type=vs) to get my themes. Some of these have to been manipulated manually and put in the proper folder in order to work, and some don't. I've gotten about 30 themes installed, but no lilac (yet)
That Blue is gorgeous Crockett :)

Thank-you Amie...so am I swaying you away from your precious lilac...LOL
Here's what the Oceanbreeze theme looks like with some windows open on my desktop....a nice metallic blue....I had to adjust the quality to get it here.
OOH!!
I am drooling, but not having XP can only dream.
