Whenever I open a webpage link in OE in an email I get connected via IE. I have set MyIE2 as default but it still happens. How can I get MyIE2 to open it? Thanks.

John I am not sure you can. Some programs automatically default to IE and I believe OE is one of them. One thing that you can try is to download SetBrowser and use it to set your default browser to My IE2 to see if that makes a difference.

Edit. One way around this problem is to have My IE2 already open when you use OE and I believe it will then default to My IE2. This is what happens with MS Outlook.

John, I use OE and currently have MyIE2 as my default browser. If I click a link in OE such as: http://www.mypcclinic.com/forum/index.php?...?showtopic=1370 (http://www.mypcclinic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1370) in comes up in MyIE2. Try opening MYIE2, click options, default browser and set as default browser. I have switched back and forth between IE, MYIE2, Mozilla and Mozilla Firebird and it seems to work. I have Win ME. I don't know if in makes a difference on what OS you are using or not.

MiltWV, hello, Thanks for the reply. I also use Me but even though MyIE2 is set as default the links always open IE and this happens if I already have MyIE2 open. I wonder if there is a setting in OE, I suspect there may be but I can't find it.

What version of IE and OE are you using? I have IE 6.1 and OE 6.0. MyIE2 is ver. 0.8.350. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. You might try reset IE as default browser, do a reboot then bring up MyIE2 and reset it to the default browser. Also try clearing all cache, cookies and temp files for IE. I'm guessing here.

IE & OE= 5.5 and my MyIE2 is the same as yours. I shall keep trying.

Did you try SetBrowser?
Edit ... I don't think it is a setting in OE. I still have IE as my default browser and OE will still open a link in My IE2 if My IE2 is open when I click on it. It might have something to do with the version of OE you are running. You might want to consider upgrading to OE6.

Hello RB, Yes I have setbrowser installed and I have been messing about with the problem for what seems hours. Maybe your suggestion re-IE6 is right but I was reluctant to upgrade as all is running well at the moment.
