All I know is that the entire site is slow as mollasses, they really need to get some independent ftp servers out there to handle downloads like this--it's madness just trying to get a theme!

I still can't get an installer from that site. I got Firebird after a while, but not 1.5

*EDIT* I was just able to get the installer for this browser and on my way to installing it.

I just finished installing this browser with a clean install and I think it's great. I was pretty disappointed with 1.41 and was about to go back to 1.4 when this came out.
LeRoi...you won't be disappointed. :)

The real problem was that mozilla.org was slashdotted yesterday... way too much overload.

Gents

I don't see much difference between 1.4 and 1.5 (nor did I expect to since the improvements came in areas that I don't use -- Mail/News, Composer, etc.)

But I do have one gearhead question. Without the added Prefbar (which is intended to put often used preferences at the user's fingertips) Mozilla 1.5 is excruciatingly slow to move from site to site or to load pages. With the Prefbar it is almost as fast as Firebird!

For heaven's sake WHY?

>>Will LeRoi leave 1.2 for this?<<

Not till I see a Crystal theme available for it!

I have it downloaded, just haven't installed it yet. I'm pretty attached to my 1.2.1, but I think I will give this new one a shot when my wife is better, she is still pretty sick and I haven't had time to make backups of certain things yet.

I have 1.2.1 fixed how I like it and hope I can get 1.5 to that point in as short a time as possible. Does 1.5 need the prefbar UA switcher to open attachments "normally" at WS (like 1.3 and 1.4 do)?

Still using Firebird 0.6 (6/03 nightly) too. Just when I get things how I like 'em they come out with these new versions, may wait for 1.6 and 0.8...probably not tho'.

Have they got the pinball theme for 0.7 yet?

Sorry to hear about your wife, will pray for a speedy recovery.

I am still running 1.3 (really like my pinball theme) and have no real reason to change as I am quite comfortable with it. I will download the latest version of Firebird however as soon as an XFT release is out there.

Those themes are not available for 1.5 yet
You do still need the Pref Bar to open those attachments, but there is no switching back and forth for me. I always leave it on IE6 WinXP.....and it does speed up my surfing by using it.
Picky, picky, picky.....

Most appreciated, Mike, she has been very sick and the "help" she has received from the Urgent Care Clinic has not been particularly effective. I do think she is a little better now.

'Preciate that, Crockett.

I took her to a different doctor today and he changed her meds, said she was taking the wrong meds. She hasn't improved much except for a few hopeful moments. I am hoping she gets better soon, she is the best, much too good for me.

Couple of issues, the prefbar is too big, imo, but it hides easily and is still easily accessible by clicking on the left edge. The others are discussed at the website and are insignificant, imo. I swapped the search button for go without any problem.

I don't know if the 1.4 version would work or not for 1.3, probably not, I suppose.

Sorry about that. Is it difficult to install a newer version of Mozilla in Linux?

I just discovered this theme recently, had no idea it existed till a few days ago, might it be brand new?

It is easy to install mozilla on linux and even easier to install themes. However, I like my 1.3 as it runs just the way I like it. May not be as fast as my Galeon but at least all my sites open upon startup which Galeon can't do.

I like to play around will all my browsers--think I'm up to 5, but I want to keep a stable browser around that I know how to do most things in--and 1.3 is my version. :)

I understand that, I stayed with Moz 1.2.1 for the longest, still think it is a great browser, but wanted to give 1.5 a try. This is the longest I've had a version above 1.2.1 for more than a few hours. This version is very nice. It is noticeably faster than 1.2.1, which was no slouch. I had it tweaked to the point of being just as fast as Firebird 0.6 (with similar user.js tweaks applied) and Moz 1.5 is faster than either (with similar tweaks).

Good to hear you are happy with it, I remember reading countless tries of upgrades which fell short for you.

To me, I am on cable so a slight gain in speed isn't worth much. Maybe once I get Mandrake 9.2 installed I will upgrade all my browsers and just suffer through it till I learn them all. :)
