My QuickTime updated itself yesterday.
This was to fix security issues.
So anyone that has worries about QT there is a update for it to be downloaded,
Thanks Ken, did it download automatically? Nothing has happened on mine.

Yes, but it was polite, and asked me first.
I must have had a "check for updates" button selected...... but I would not know where in QT it was/is........... :?:
But, beware, every time I open it to look for settings it locks up,
and I'm into Task Manager to get rid of it.
I may remove it from my computer if it doesn't treat me better.. :)
Perhaps there will be an update on the update to sort things out..
but I'm not holding my breath..

Ah...
I had to open QT off-line.
Went to Edit > Preferences > Player Preferences
and set it up like this

I think it was pulling down a lot of "Content Guide" on my dialup and hogging all resources, that's why I could manage the beast off line.
:hammer:

Quicktime alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm) is even a better choice. Not full of bloat that Quicktime has.
I think mine is required my Kodak picture sofware.
I dont use it for anything else and is an old Version 6.5.2. Not sure what would happen if I uninstalled it.

I had thought that I may do that, but as it is based on QT codecs,
is the QT bug still in it ?

Apple fixes QuickTime hole after hack (http://computerworld.co.nz/news.nsf/news/9A1B2B37F747EE9FCC2572CF002173BA?opendocument&utm_source=topnews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=topnews)
Because the flaw lies in QuickTime, which is used by Microsoft's Internet Explorer as well as Mozilla’s Firefox browsers, PC users are also vulnerable.
