View Full Version : What To Use Instead of Adaware 2007

Due to Lavasoft's dropping support and updates to Adaware SE, I got the 2007 free version. I am finding it to be a very complex and hard to understand program. All I've received in the way of "help" from their forum is virtually nothing!
Is there another program that you all use, that is simpler, and just as good as, or better?
Thanks again-

honda05, in all honesty, I had & used the new version till it crashed my pc a few times so I uninstalled it & left it off for a few months.
I reinstalled it a few days ago just to see how it'd go & so far its been flawless.
Being on dial up it takes a while for some up dates but i'm not concerned about that.
My suggestion is use alot of patience with it. If you've already deleted it, I don't know of an adequate replacement. http://filehippo.com is where you can look. Good luck:hi:

Howdy, Surfer!
I've still got it. What I'm seeing is, it's getting most of the infections, deletes them, but when I go into Stats, I'm finding some that it's not deleting and they're piling up.
I also don't know what this aaw2007 is for. It's on the desktop, but not installed.
The computer was slow booting up, so I cut off the "remove files when windows starts", and it sped it back up. I don't know what files it means or where they're at, if I don't let Windows get rid of them. Just a lot of question marks around Adaware 2007. Someone on the Lavasoft forum tried to explain about aaw2007, but it was over my head.

Ok, unless I'm wrong, aaw = ad aware. 2007 is just the year. I can be wrong, thou. I googled aaw2007 & got this http://tinyurl.com/ytlzdy . I'll be back later if you need more help. NOT saying i have the answers, but:hi:
I use Spybot, haven't touched Adaware for many years. :)

Actually, I've had Spybot for a very long time, Surfer, but thanks anyway.
I have found that Adaware SE and the new one will catch things that Spybot doesn't, so it's good to have both.
I'm seeing some on the Lavasoft site (which has been down all day long, btw), who go back to the Adaware SE, but are manually getting updates. How would I manually get them, if anyone knows? I may keep 2007, if things can be worked out, but if not, I feel like getting SE Personal back.
Thanks~

The only way to Update SE now, is Manually.
You have to D/L the .ZIP for it and then do to your Lavasoft Folder and rename the def.ref to .old, Then copy the New one to that Folder.

A question about Bozooka, Eve. Is it as thorough as Adaware, catches and gets rid of all bad guys? I'm very tempted to just go ahead and get that pup.
Thanks-

www.superantispyware.com.
That's what my local computer tech uses and says it is really easy to use.
Gonna give it a spin!;)

honda, just remember, http://filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/ doesn't get along with ALL programs. I had to remove it because it was conflicting with BOClean, I think. Not sure.
The SAS forum & a techie from WS strongly suggested I delete one program at a time to fine the conflict, but in my humble opinion that would of taken months. Didn't do it. I wish you well:):hi:

Whatta program!! It installs fast and did a whole system scan in about 22 minutes! It has you to reboot to be sure all of the bad guys are out of there. Simple, easy, and miles ahead of Adaware.

I didn't catch your post until now, Surfer. I downloaded directly from their site not off of another one like filehippo. Reckon that was your problem? It's running great so far and no glitches. The computer shop uses it in all their stuff, and loves it.

Whether filehippo.com or their website,it don't matter. Enjoy.
I might suggest going here http://filehippo.com/ & in the upper right corner download their updater. I did & have been updated on all programs, nice.:hi:
I run it twice a month to keep up dated.:hi:

I'm going to add here that just because a program works excellent for one person, it MAY NOT work at all for another person. Too many techies in another forum won't admit to that. IF everybody went to the same exact websites & their pc's were identical, the programs MIGHT work. I could continue, but won't.:hi:

Checking back in for an update. The SuperAntispyware is working like a charm! Just last week, it caught a Trojan horse. It is so easy to use, dump your quarantines, and manage. I wouldn't take for it. No conflicts with other programs as of yet.
I am using the latest release of Spyware Terminator. It uses less resources that Adaware 2007 and works better.
