Hi folks,

There is a very interesting (mostly over my head) discussion of pipelining here:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=34645

I have lowered some of the values (notably max connections per server) and notice no slow down of webpage loading.

High max connections per server may have a negative impact on the web in general, from what I gather.

I would appreciate any clarification by more knowledgeable folks here.

I have been following that thread with great interest for the last few days, but there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting advice, so at the moment, even though I have pipelining enabled, the rest of my values are set at their default. I think perhaps this is more relevant for people on dial up, as I have seen no difference in page loading speed on ADSL, despite trying various combinations last week.

I'm on dialup, so I'll check it out, though I doubt that I'll understand much of it. Thanks, guys.

BTW, Amie, cool attachment to your sig!! :thRt: :jig:

No, missed that, but "passion" caught my eye! :lmbo:

I had always run FB with Pipelining disabled because when I first used Phoenix 0.5 it didn't seem to make any difference. But, as a result of LeRoi's post I gave it another try and (without making any changes to the user.js/prefs.js file) it seems to have increased browsing speed markedly. I don't see the slowdown of image loading that some reported in the mozillaZine thread.

Like the others in the MZ thread posted I will have to be sure that this apparent speed increase isn't as a result of the "Wishful Thinking Effect" but I don't think that it is (he thought, wishfully.)
