After updating my Spybot S&D...
thanks Ky03  http://www.mypcclinic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25031
...and scanning for problems
Spybot headed the page with Smitfraud-C.Generic.....
when I clicked on it nothing happened ...so I went surfing..
and ended up here http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php
After printing off the instructions, then downloading the removal tool, I ran the tool.
It worked well.
as it was in my Tools.dll, I had a few settings to renew,
like what my desktop background was..
I can recommend this tool.

Ken that is very encouraging that you found help in my up date posting sometimes I wonder if anyone is being helped except Amie she usually replys with a 'Thank You' then I see how many read the post. I ran A-squared this morning to but wasn't as lucky as you, I think I still have problems. Continued Good Luck

After finding the infection, I have changed the Avast antivirus scanning setting from a Standard scan to a Thorough scan.
Perhaps you may consider doing the same to your antivirus program, to see if it finds your problem.

Thanks Ken I did change my Avast to a 'Thorough' scan, it says 15.8GB scanned. I know every computer would be more or less but does that
sound like a normal amount to be scanned?
I had a perfectly clean scan.

I do not know.
Left click on My Computer > Right click on Local Disk (C) > Left click on Properties.
Under the General tab you will see the file size on that Disk
Is it about what Avast reported?
My C drive has...
Used space 9.20MB
Free Space 65.2
Capacity 74.4GB
The full scan with Avast was 15.8GB
or is it these I should have recorder
CPU 2.40GHz~2.39GHz~512MB Ram

Do you have another hardrive in your computer,
or is the hardrive in your computer split into more that one partition.
If so check the drive letter...(ie..E..F..)
With Avast scanning 15.8GB, I would have thought there would be more than 9.20GB used...unless you had a DVD in the computer and that was scanned also.

I only have one hard drive 'C' and no split and no I didn't have a DVD in the computer. How strange.
