I have JoiExpress and I just downloaded Firebird. JoiExpress is an internet exceleratot like "NetZero Fast Internet"
It compresses the data and makes it travel much faster. It also speeds up the Internet cache so that the site load up a bit faster.
I was wondering if mozilla is comatible with this service. Its installed on my computer JoiExpress is inactive when i use Mozilla and it becomes active when i use IE6
Help any one?

There are more knowledgeable people here than me, but I don't think you need an accelerator with Mozilla or Firebird! Their speed is built-in, and don't rely on caching in the same way as IE accelerators. In fact, people have said that accelerators don't really do you any good in IE, because of the way they work. Someone will be along to explain it better, I know.

I don't know about JoiExpress but NetZero High Speed only works with Internet Explorer.
Internet accelerators work by proxy-caching webpages and IP addresses and by compressing images. IMO, they will work (to a degree) in the short run since the webpages that you fetch will be held in the proxy's cache for immediate retrieval and they will save you the half-second to 3 or 4 seconds that it takes the DNS server to resolve the hosts for each part of each webpage you visit. But in the long run the pages in the cache will become stale and the most recent version of a page will have to be downloaded in the normal way. Worse, if the cached IP becomes out of date you may not be able to reach a particular website (with a new IP address) at all.
Perhaps the greatest speed boost that "internet accelerators" provide comes from compressing images. But many people find that the compressed images are not of an acceptable quality.
You can gain all of the benefits (and suffer none of the drawbacks) of IP caching by using "ExtraDNS" available at http://www.extratools.com/ ($30.) You can gain the benefits of page caching by NOT emptying your browser cache unless the browser starts to misbehave. You cannot duplicate the advantages of image compression -- but you might not want to. Of course, you might want to disable images entirely, which is very easy to do in FB. If you download the PrefButtons Extension you can put a switch directly on the toolbar to toggle images on and off.
And finally, so called "internet accelerators" do NOT accelerate the download speed of files (such as .mp3s) anyway!
All this, combined with Firebird's native ability to render webpages quickly (much faster than IE) suggests to me that you should dump the "internet accelerator" and earmark the money that you save for a broadband connection sometime down the line!

Thanks alan,
I had an idea of how the eccelerator worked. I am happy with the way it is woking so far. I have only had it for 5 day however.
Thanks for the info. I am guessing Joi isnt compatible with firebird then. I will contact Joi for more info

I don't care how many people claim Firebird or Mozilla are faster than IE I don't think they are if you are on cable or DSL. They might be faster on dial up, I would not know, but I have tested just about every browser available and have most of them installed right now on my PC and they all are equally fast on cable.
The true advantage of Mozilla and Firebird over IE is security.

Cablenut and its' add on update package help my dial up quite a bit:

Mozilla 1.5 and Firebird are much faster than IE6sp1 on my dial up connection.
There are tweaks that can be applied to Mozilla and Firebird through about:config (or by the creation of a user.js file and insertion of a few lines) that can speed them up even more.
You might want to take a look at this thread at Mozillazine Forums:

Especially the last few pages.

LeRoi can you take a look at my post on the new release of Mozilla in the software section and see if you can answer my question. Thanks in advance. :)

Gladly RB, let me know if you need further clarification. I may have made it more complicated than was necessary. You're welcome anytime. :thLt:

uffbros,
You might not be able to get a faster connection but you can compress the size of the image.
Think about it, an highly detailed Image is usually bigger than a normal detail image. The smaller the image the faster it loads. JoiExpress compresses the image and takes the detail away so i see this type of image (look for the pic) and not a high deatial pic like my avatar.
It makes since the smaller the size of the file the faster it loads, right?
You can also adjust the compression of the image. The less detail you want the faster it load and the more detail you want, well you get the picture :)
