 what would cause the whole browser to shake ? I just installed the same version , that I have , Firebird 7 , on my husband's computer . And as I was finished and started to move the bookmarks , the whole windows started to shake and would not quit , even after restart . So it's out for now ! TY

Are you using the default theme? Sometimes theme incompatability can cause this.

Are you using a Windows theming program like Window Blinds? If so, exclude Firebird from skinning.

[added]

What do you mean you were moving the bookmarks and how were you doing so?

Manually moving or editing files should only be done with the browser closed.

Thank you LeRoi :) to the rescue , as usual :jig: I'm not using Window Blinds , but I did use a Theme (hm , forgot the name ..Little something ) but it should have been compatible . I only downloaded a few and only the ones that didn't say ..this theme is not compatible with your version . Oh well , I will try again . It's just such a pain in the butt to install all of this and the extensions :bang:

Firebird is progressing so rapidly right now, Jane, that it is hard to tell which themes and extensions are going to work properly. The detection script that tells the theme page which version you are using is limited and is not always correct when it tells you a theme is compatible.

I expect it will be like this at least until 1.0 is released, but it is fairly easy to uninstall themes. You must choose another theme to use before uninstalling the current theme.

I'll try to find the correct procedure to follow.

Thank you LeRoi :) I didn't think it might be that silly theme . I uninstalled the whole thing . I will try again tomorrow . Today , I'm thorougly disgusted (i.e. filled with distaste :cjlol: :cjlol: ) Appreciate the help :)

Don't forget Firebird is just a BETA version, there are still a few bug to be taken out. :)

Just thought I would post that...

I had it on both my computers and it worked well . I just installed XPpro on my desktop comp. and had to reinstall all my SW . And I believe that LeRoi is right . I'll bet it's that theme I installed . Will try again :thLt: have a masochistic streak mile wide . :cjlol: :cjlol:

Hello:
Just to add to the above sometimes if your speakers are too close to your monitor or your computer, or if any transformers are close to your monitor or computer you will sometimes experience this phenomenon. When I say transformers I'm talking about power supplies for other hardware on your desk or whatever physical setup you have for your computer.

:jig: Well, I reinstalled Mozilla Firebird , and very carefully installed just a few skins . Tried them all (4, of course my favorite one, BEOS shook :bang: ) and one of them started the old shaking routine  so I uninstalled that one and all is working well .
BTW , It still bothers me why that skin doesn't work . I have it on my laptop Firebird 0.7 WinXPhome . But it would shake like crazy on my desktop , WinXPpro , same version Firebird .

>>BTW , It still bothers me why that skin doesn't work .<<

They've probably updated the skin for the latest nightly builds making it incompatible with 0.7.

Someone that has the older version of the skin could send it to you via email attachment, if you can locate someone that has it.

[added]

If you have the skin installed on another computer, copy it to floppy and use an online installer to install it. It will be within the chrome folder, within your profile folder. The file will have a .jar extension (probably Beos.jar?).

There is an online installer available on this page:

http://www.texturizer.net/firebird/themes/#install

Browse to the file and click install.

That is what I did , LeRoi . And it didn't work . It shook like mad  Even though it's OK on my other comp. install of the same version . I had the skin saved and went to the site , but no joy  I can live with that , though it is my very favorite skin .
