MOZILLA 1.6 PROBLEM

I downloaded Mozilla 1.6 last night and clicked on a graphic with right Mmouse button and tried to save to desktop. nothing hapened

I can save the page but not the graphic itself. also i can send itvia email

I have no problem saving with IE6 and prior to this I had no problem saving graphics with Mozilla 1.5

I have not "upgraded" to 1.6 yet.

Did you do a clean install? Meaning did you uninstall 1.5, reboot, search for Mozilla files and folders, delete them and reinstall 1.6?

This is usually the best way, but doing so does require re-setting up everything unless you backed up important files within the profile folder. There is also a file called mozver.dat that should be deleted after uninstall if you have no other Gecko based browsers on your system.

Since I have not tried 1.6 as yet, it could be an unresolved bug in the new version, but I have seen no mention of it at Mozillazine Forums.

I always like to wait a week or so before changing versions to see if anyone is having problems with new versions. I stayed with 1.2.1 until 1.5 came out, tried 1.3 and 1.4 and went back to 1.2.1.

There is a Mozilla folder within the common files folder within program files that contains a file called GRE, it sometimes does not get deleted when Mozilla is uninstalled and can cause problems if the folder that contains it is not deleted by the uninstaller.

You might try creating a new Mozilla profile to see if the problem persists, start>programs>Mozilla>profile manager>manage profiles>create profile.

i tried a new profile didn't work . I'm now going to do a complete uninstall and then delete MOZver.dat & GRE and then reinstall
I have my bkkomarks and passwords and a few other things backed up so I hop aI dont have to work too hard

I deleted mozilla in in its entirety. then deleted GRE and mozver.dat
rebooted, reinstalled and restored lmy own files and guess what !
everything so far is working just fine.
