6 iexplore in close program "help"

Hello everyone ,, Haven't been in because things have been running pretty smoothly till recently.. Running windows me and using internet explorer.
When i do an alt-cntrl-del, i am showing about 6 iexplores running,, this is new and ,maybe only a day or two old, haven't got any idea why they are showing up.. when i click to close the screen goes to white.. any suggestions ???? I am using road runner cable. upgraded my aol messenger,, added wild tangent, but other than that nothing else has changed,, Thanks in advance for any help---GEM :amie:

First things first!

Wild tangent is spyware/malware.

Have you tried the repair option on IE?

Hi and thanks for the quick response,, did try to do a repair on IE ,, would not complete.. How do I eleminate wild tangent now ,, thru add and delete programs under control panel.. thanks in advance.. GEM :amie:

Ok, runnig a virus scan wouldn't hurt :)

Now to take off Wild Tangent:

You could try add/remove first but then you would need Bazooka (http://kephyr.sureshot.xaviermedia.net/spywarescanner/supportus.phtml) to get rid of most of it.

Download from the link provided above, install, update, and scan.

Once the scan is complete look to the right hand pane,click on the spyware you have, and a webpage will come up with insructions on manually deleting the spyware :)

I would delete wild tangent manually (with instuctions provided by Bazooka) then I would get Spybot here (http://lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/index.html) and run that to clean the rest.

You can do which ever you prefer.

**Make sure you run Bazooka and take of wildtangent before running spybot.

Hello,,, I did get rid of wild tangent as prescribed,, Still have the problem with 6 or more ixplore showing up as running when I use the alt control dele window,, no matter how many times i end task,, once i start using the web,, i look and they are back,, what is going on.. Road runner has a virus protect with firewall,, does anyone know is this is a good program to download and run,,, last time i down loaded a virus protect we had tons of problems with the puter working properly,,

If you do not have an anti virus program installed on your PC I suggest you run an online virus scan from one of these links:

I am not sure you have a virus but you should not have 6 IE's running unless you have executed the IE program 6 times.

Hi again,,, not opening any extra windows,, the ixplore is not there and then after doing some web surfing i look and there are many iexplores running,, this is not to be confused with my explorer,,,, all i have open at any one time is explorer, systray, tgcmd (road runner medic) and instant access and of course my messengers...thanks Gem :amie:

Yes. I understand the difference between IE and the Explorer program. I have tried my best to get multiple copies of IE to show up in the task manager and the only way I could do it was to have multiple copies running so something is going on with your system that may be behind your back.

Hello, Did a virus scan and ran spy bot all clean,, the only changes to my system have been the automatic update from micro soft and the update to the AIM messenger which put on a lot of stuff mentioned above,, think i have all the wild tangent off and the icon for netscape isp is gone also.. other than that nothing is new.. I used the big blue e to connect and my home page is MyWay . com ,, went to mail and read some mail and deleted some mail,, did nothing else,, sure enough when i looked there was explorer and iexplore closed the iexplore and closed that browser.. Opened my crazy browser, same home page and went in and looked at mail and then checked and there was only the explorer open,, just can't figure out what is going on .. oh well thanks :hammer:

Although Crazy Browser is an IE front end when you run it, it does not execute IE so IE is not going to show up in the running task. I found this to be true of My IE2 as well. You should not worry about Explorer showing up. This is going to always show up because this is basically what makes Windows work. Each time you execute IE you should see iexplore.exe running and for each one you start you should have an additional copy showing up.

After you leave IE do you have any iexplore.exe running in your task manager?

Yes , even if i only open one explorer and do not open links that open a new browser window,, I am not to worried about it but when playing games recently i have noticed that they are really slow to load,, all I am doing is closing the iexplore, (shows no changes to window already open) Thanks for the help. btw only one window is showing as open on task bar also.
