Not sure where to post this so I posted it here. =)
PCI Express (the successor to those white PCI slots on your mobo) will replace not only PCI slots but the brown AGP slot you most likely use for your video card. Newer video cards will start being released on x16 PCI express instead of the slower AGP.
Just thought I'd give those (like myself) who are looking at putting together a new PC to hold off for the summer if you want this latest technology. http://mypcclinic.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif And if you've had to pull out everything in your case to replace a mobo you know what a pain it is! I still don't have my front IEEE 1394 slot in the front working since I last swapped out a mobo. http://mypcclinic.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

I wonder if this means AGP pcs and mobos will become much cheaper soon?

Doubtfull, since it is still a new tech. I would guess maybe another year before nVidia and ATI make a serious push towards PCI express and stop developing agp cards. But hopefully they will go cheap then. =)

Probably LeRoi, it'll be yesterdays technology, better for us that are used to being behind times:)

I hear that! My TV is 17yrs. old. It's bound to have been a good one tho, still watching it. Bought it with my income tax refund way back when.

AGP isn't that new, it's first implementation was back in the earlier years of the Pentium 2, AMD K6-2 and the Cyrix MII.
When PCI express hits the market AGP will still be expensive but as more people make the switch you'll see the price steady fall.

This is the feeling I get...it will not be anything sudden but a gradual price drop.
I wonder if the price's will come down?
I have to communicate with you the sad news that after years of faithful service my Operating Disk has gone to the place above where silver disc's go.
Phoning the shop to ask the price of a new 98se disk. this is the price's I was quoted.
98se--£80.00.
XP----£74.00.
the reason I was given, 98se is not being made anymore, i.e. shortage, so up goes the price.
