Photo of the Month?

Just an idea but was wondering if maybe we should start a Photo of the Month 'competition' where those interested could submit their photos, then on color, composition, and content we could come up with a winner every month.

I figured maybe this would get us a little more action in the forum. I know I'll submit some. =)

What do you guys/gals/gurus think?

Think that is a great idea Mike, it has been a little slow round here lately! Who would judge, or would it be a vote?

Not sure, whatever you guys decide. Maybe a panel of non-partisan (or to be more accurate: non-participating) members could vote at the end of the month.

The problem with making like a poll is that it can be abused and give inaccurate results.

Something to think about.

We could even make different categories (depending on how many entries we would get).

I don't do much taking of pics. So don't usually have much to add here. But I look at every pic and just love them. MJ, if you need volunteers for the judging I'd be happy to put my name in.

Another thought - is there any way they could be submitted annonymously? Or is that getting too complicated!

Not annonymously but perhaps submitted blindly. That way we can still give them credit in the end, but they will remain unnamed until the end getting rid of any chance of favortism. =)

The pictures could be submitted by email or PM, and then they could be posted in a closed poll (so everyone could vote, but no comments left).

The problem there Ryan is polls can be rigged. I agree about the submission, there should be 1 closed thread where all the photos would be displayed as they are submitted.

If things become obviously skewered, then we can think of a different solution, but I think we're trying to think too hard. :)

of course, now that I think about it, the problem with polls is you're limited to 10 options (or 10 pictures)... might not be a good idea

Had trouble getting in for awhile. Its just me. I was saving the old link also. Got it all figured out now and I am here. :flower: Sooo Now that I see this thread, I think its great. Only I don't have any pics to put in at least for this first month. I will be glad to be a judge, or at least the chance to vote. This is gonna be great. So far the pics are so good its going to be hard to decide.
