:cool: This tweak is a simple uninstallment that will delete a file.

Free Up Disk Space

Windows XP creates a file called "hiperfil.sys". Now if you happen to use the hibernation feature than I would not read on, but if do not use this feature and simply shut down your computer than proceed! ;)

Start -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Hibernation Check around there for a box with a check and uncheck that. For those of you with HDD space problems this is a good uninstallment IMO! :)

The amount of space will vary. Mine freed up around 400MB a while back ago. I havent tried this recently.

Thats a good tweak Alex. Just looked at mine and and Hibernation would require 368MB. I dont use it so not an issue for me (actually could never get it to work)

How do you find out how much space this takes? I don't use it at all.

There is really no way of finding out excactly. This is what i did.

Went in my computer and checked the space i had before removal.

Turned off the hbernation option and checked space i now had.

I subtracted the two and got how much space i had saved! :)

Found out my Hibernation is turned off.
