First problem I would like to find out about is why my cursor will go from static to floating while i am using my puter,, does this mean i need a new mouse, or is there something else going on, Any help would be appreciated thanks, Mary Jo

I don't know why your login failed with your preferred username, but I bet Amie, Mike or Ranger Bob can straighten it out.

Now about the mouse. Do you use the Windows native driver or mouse software of some kind?

Have you looked in the mouse properties applet in the control panel for anything that might have been changed?

If it is the native driver, you can remove it in the device manager (right click my computer>properties>device manager, click open the plus sign next to the entry for your mouse, then highlight the entry you have just exposed, click the remove button), then when you reboot new hardware will be detected (leave the mouse plugged into the pc) and the driver should be reinstalled, you may have to use ctrl+alt+del to reboot or navigate using tab, the arrow keys and enter to use the start menu to restart.

Did you add any new software immediately before the problem occurred or change any settings?

I have just checked the details of both of your accounts, it is possible that the reason you could not log in was because you have two different email addresses for them, and perhaps you used the wrong one.

When you first registered with us on the old forum you used an Earthlink address, and now you are using a Hotmail one.

If you would sent me a PM or post here, which account you would like to keep, either Gemini or Gem, and which email address you would like to associate with it, I can get it sorted in a few minutes.

Hello,, Did the property thing, hope it helps,, seems like the same driver reinstalled. I have noticed that the longer i am on line (dial up) the slower my pages load and every thing gets almost to the frozen state but not quite, not sure if this makes any sense to any of you,, just don't know if it is puter or site problem,, this seems to happen no matter what actual site i am on. get real improvement if i go off line and soft boot the system. Any thoughts on this behavior. Thanks in advance Mary Jo :amie:

How often do you Scandisk and defrag yuor computer and delete your Temporary Internet and Temp files, doing all of these things can help when a system becomes sluggish,

However it also depends on how much memory you have and how powerful your CPU is, as well as how many programs you have running in the background.

My computer needs a soft reboot nearly every day when it gets slow, but I have only got a little PIII 500.
