Hi folks,

They sent me a zipped version because apparently my email program or isp didn't let the .exe file come in. I don't understand the instructions they sent me. Can anyone help?

Hello,

Attached is BOC410.ZIP. I have sent the ZIP as the EXE file was
apparently blocked by your ISP or software, or you requested it.

Clean out the contents of your Temp directory, then unzip the attached file
into it, you will want to run SETUP.EXE instead of the BOC410.EXE
described, once you have done the following....

The new BOClean 4.11 version is attached to this email for you. Be sure to
SHUT DOWN any other antivirus or "security" programs after you've properly
"sniffed" the download ... many "anti-tamper" programs these days can cause
installation problems ...

The filename is BOC411.EXE just in case your security software manages to
rename it to prevent it from running. All you need to do is doubleclick
your BOClean traybar icon and select "Shutdown BOClean" from the BOClean
popup menu to close BOClean so that it can be replaced. If you forget to do
so, then the new installer will complain about not being able to write the
"BOClean.exe" file. If BOClean is already not running, then there's no
traybar icon to shut down.

Once that's done, uninstall BOClean and then you can then run the new
BOC411.EXE file which was attached to this email to begin the installation.
Once it's installed and run, doubleclick on the traybar icon and when the
menu appears, click on "Check for update" to collect the most recent update
with automatic verification and installation.

The SETUP within this new version will evaluate your system environment
and will remove old copies, old registry data and otherwise cleanup after
any existing BOClean entrails. Next it will examine your firewall and
antivirus software to check for conflicts and then preset the "Fasthook"
feature to optimum given your situation and the number of hands on the pole
of access. BOClean will now step aside and let the others "have at it" and
once they're done, BOClean will then assert itself.

Run BOClean and configure it once it's installed - if you run into any
anomolies, a single reboot will cause BOClean to recalibrate its timing and
that should be the end of any potential difficulties once the reboot has
occurred.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are using Outlook Express and the attached file does
not appear to be present, Outlook Express' "virus protection" might be
hiding it on you. If this is the case, try this trick to get at the
attached file:

If the "virus protection" is enabled, it just eats the attachment although
it's actually still there. The checkbox for this function is found under
OE/tools/options/security/virus protection. Once unchecked, you'll be able
to open the attachment.

Can I empty the Temp directory after installation and there were two files, not just the zip, see (there are 8 or 10 files inside the zip file):

Elwood,

That sounds a very clever installer with BOClean. Did it all install properly and is working fine now, if so, once you have rebooted, then anything left in the Temp directory can be safely deleted. Don't know what the second file is, perhaps it was needed to unzip the other file, or carry out one of the other tasks involved.

Hi LeRoi

"Clean out the contents of your Temp directory, then unzip the attached file

described, once you have done the following"

I would clean it out, then reboot, then attach the file into it.

"Can I empty the Temp directory after installation and there were two files, not just the zip"

I would reboot first, then delete,in case windows needs those files to configure before rebooting

Hope that helps and that you understand what I ment

Thankyou Sixpac,

I did what you said and everything seems to be working properly. Thankyou so much. :)

Thankyou too, Amie. :)
