Help files say to try out various brands of CD media to find the one that goes best with your hardware & software. After making Data-CD coasters at 52X, 24X, and 1X, I used DeepBurner (freeware, 2.5 MB download) and made data-cds at 52X with my Sony blank media. If you've got a stack of "inferior" blank CDs, try out freeware applications and find one that works with them.

I'm very new at burning, so the worst time I ever have with it is keeping the disc open to add more burned data or, to keep the data already on the disk(importing?), & adding more to the disk. They just don't use layman terminoligy, most times. :D:D I'm hanging in there tho', keep trying 'til she works correct. George.

ps..Have used this app, don't mind it either.

I bit the bullet & took the newer pc apart to install my "NEW" (old, as bought it last Nov) LG 52x Max burner. Wow, it works WAY better than my old LG24x12x8 in my old pc. This one I installed Nero 5.5.9 & away I went burning with a passion. I tossed the DeepBurner software in the old pc, as it just seemed to lock up too much. Love the new speed, plus the ease of Nero in the newer pc. I put Nero in the old one too, but haven't tried a burn yet. George. :)

Thanks for the news! I have Nero on a CD that came with my new CDRW-drive. Maybe I should install it and see...

Nero is a good program but if you load it off of a disk go to the website and update it. The new version is 6. ???. Well worth the time.

If you install DeepBurner will it become your default CD burner software or will it just be available to be used when you want to use it and allow you to continue to use DirectCD and Easy CD Creator as your default burner software if you like?

You would need to be using a burner software like DirectCD or InCD which allow you to treat the CD like a large floppy disk. When you eject the CD a screen should pop up that will ask you if you wish to close the CD or leave it open so you can continue to add to the CD.

Are those part of XP? (I don't have XP yet.) I just clicked on my NTi burner's icon, and NTi came up, not Deep Burner, and Deep Burner is installed. So I guess it doesn't make itself the default.

No they are third party CD burner software programs that you must purchase. I have never installed DeepBurner myself because I have been concerned it would take over as my default burner software, which I do not want.

I have installed it on my son's laptop but he has not used it enough yet to have started asking me questions yet. :)
