View Full Version : Show XP Updates
I was puzzled as to why MS updates I have installed since SP2 were not showing on Add/Remove. Then today I read this in WinXP News.
Should have looked closer :)
Thought would pass it on in case anyone else has missed the checkbox
How to Enable XP SP2's "Show Updates" Option
One change made by SP2 is the new feature that lets you see the updates that have been installed for your application programs. This is handy for keeping up with the patch status of your programs, but you need to enable it. Here's how:
Click Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs.
At the top of the Add or Remove Programs window, check the checkbox labeled "Show updates."
Scroll to the program for which you want to see updates. The updates will be listed under the program name, along with the date when each update was installed.

So simple and yet so great. I had missed the block at the top. Thanks so much.

Thanks, Eve; It shows other updates too. The list under XP
is quite lengthy-I believe there were 14 items on last week's
updates. I tried highlighting and copying to store in a folder,
but it doesn't work for me. A screenshot did the trick, and then
I unchecked the updates box. Re-ticking it makes it return.

I followed the directions but it didn't work for me....any suggestions?
Suze; Try scrolling all the way to the bottom of the list.
The entries show up under 'Windows' not MSN on my folder.

I did that but they are not showing :?:
I have no idea why your updates are not showing Suze - hope someone else can help. Have you tried checking the box, clicking out of Add/Remove and then going back in ? Mine show up near the bottom Under Windows XP Software Updates and list the Hotfix numbers.
Maka - I downloaded and installed all the critical updates for my system on 12/2/05 but there were only 7, not 14 :?:
If you want to check your installation history you can do it on the Windows Update page :)
Eve, can't shed any light on the number of updates. It said
14 at the time I did the download. I hope that I am doubly
protected--LOL.

just downloaded and ran Everest and it shows all my updates
I was told an another board that very often sp2 causes windows downloades to be hidden :?:

It does, not just very often but always. You have to enable it as described in my first post in this thread.
Perhaps someone else can throw some light as to why it does not work for you Suze.
