If you are a Upromise user and also use IE-SPYAD you may have recently found that you have problems accessing Upromise. I just spent some time on my wife's PC trying to figure out why she could connect with Mozilla yet IE6 would fail. The answer was that IP-SPYAD adds upromise.com to the restricted sites in IE. Once I found this out I was able to put together a simple reg patch to remove Upromise from the restricted sites and Upromise is now working fine on my her PC. If anyone would like this patch let me know and I will download it to this thread. I have sent an email to the author of IE-SPYAD requesting that he remove upromise.com from the file.

I would like to share this reply I received from my email to the author on IE-SPYAD:

"Thanks for getting in touch about Upromise/RemindU. This particular entry is
a vexing one, because I keep finding apparent (emphasis on apparent)
connections between Upromise/RemindU and TopMoxie, which is an aggressive
online marketing firm. And, unfortunately, I have seen other instances where
non-profit charity organizations have foisted unwanted software on folks'
computers -- E2Give is a perfect example of that.

In this case, however, I can't find anything more specific to pin down the
exact relationship between TopMoxie and UPromise/RemindU. Although I do tend
to err on the side of caution when attempting to give users protection,
RemindU/UPromise appears to present no clear and unambiguous problem for
users. So, it will be removed in the next update to IE-SPYAD and AGNIS.

If you run across other entries in IE-SPYAD that would be worthwhile to
review, please don't hesitate to drop me a line a point those out."

Yes he was very responsive. It was not that big a deal but I hated to have to run my patch every time an update came out and this will prevent the problem. He must really face a major task trying to determine everything that needs to be added to his database so we can enjoy safer surfing.
