I need answers partly because of my curiosity and partly to keep me from doing something dumb and irreversible. [blue=edited]
1. A person running Win98se can't rename any fonts, right? (or: can't rename them and have Windows use them normally)(I think this is true, but see #3)
2. Can a person running XP Home see (and get into) the folder "Application Data"? (a software tech support person told me that about Windows XP in general, was surprised I could find the folder )
3. With Windows XP (both Home & Pro?) one can rename fonts and have Windows use the renamed fonts, yes? (Windows doesn't care about the font's name since it doesn't change the original font-filename) There's a freeware program from a fontographer that renames fonts from the old filename like ac___.ttf to ActualCharactersFontBold.ttf --so I wonder if that new name can be changed to something like ActCharsB.ttf as long as there are no other fonts using the new filename. I've seen some warnings about Windows needing a font's proper filename to be able to do all the font-activities [I]to and for and with that font; if the fonts can be renamed, this caution is out of date, it seems. Or does it seem?
