Not my sort of fun day
Maybe Wednesday would be more appealing

Eve, I got confused too with the lines at first. But I think the first two lines rhyme and then you have a different line with a following one that rhymes with it. Then the last line rhymes back with the first two.

The elephant lumbered, the kangaroo hopped

In the land of mist and dew
These are some of the early posts from
Alan and Sue. Sorry , I had trouble posting
it all before. Hope this will display.
Here is a classic limerick as an example:
There was an old man of Darjeeling
Who boarded a bus bound for Ealing
It said on the door
`Don't spit on the floor'
So he stood up and spat on the ceiling.
**************************************
A clumsy young fellow named Tim (A)
was never informed how to swim. (A)
He fell off a dock (
and sunk like a rock. (
And that was the end of him. (A)
okay the first and second rhyme
third and fourth rhyme
and the last rhymes with the first...right?
So the rhythm (scansion) of a limerick is like:
Di Dah-Dah Di Dah-Dah Di Dah
Di Dah-Dah Di Dah-Dah Di Dah
Di Dah-Dah Di Dah
Di Dah-Dah Di Dah
Di Dah-Dah Di Dah-Dah Di Dah
